Vermont Sports Betting Interest In Catamounts Sure To Mount
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

Vermont men’s college basketball fans are eagerly awaiting the conference and NCAA Tournaments to take place in the next couple of months.

Why? Because that’s when followers of the Catamounts program can wager on their hometown heroes for the first time since mobile Vermont sports betting apps launched in the state. Three providers (DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel) went live on Jan. 10.

Bettors in the state can only wager on in-state college teams if that team is playing in a tournament with four teams or more and it looks like that will happen with the Catamounts.

Coming off a 20-point road victory Thursday at Binghamton, Vermont (14-5, 4-0 America East) extended its win streak to a nation-best 19th consecutive league win. Four players scored in double figures in route to the 82-62 road victory, highlighted by redshirt sophomore guard Sam Alamutu leading the way with 13 points. Vermont is tied with UMass-Lowell at 4-0 in the league, with Bryant also unbeaten at 3-0.

This season, the Catamounts have started league play with four straight wins for the first time since the 2021-22 season. It is the fifth time during the last eight seasons that Vermont has started 4-0 against America East opponents.

Vermont Has Strong Recent History

Under head coach John Becker, UVM aims for its third straight America East Tournament title and fifth in six years – and this year Vermont sports betting will be legal for those watching the tournament. The Catamonts have won five straight and six of their past seven games; they return to the court with a visit to UMass-Lowell at 7 p.m. Eastern on Jan. 25 in a rematch of last year's conference tournament final.

As the top seed last year, Vermont upended second-seeded UMass-Lowell, 72-59, on March 11 to earn their league-leading 10th title all-time since 2003. UVM earned a No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament, losing 78-61 to No. 2 seed Marquette in the first round of the East Regional.

This year’s edition of the America East Conference Tournament will take place with quarterfinals March 9, with the semifinals March 12 and the championship game March 16. The highest seeds will host in each round. Right now, Vermont is in the driver’s seat to host throughout.
